HISTORY of the psychedelic prayers
Having begun the translation of the Tao Te Ching in India 1965, Timothy Leary in Millbrook, NY later with Rosemary Woodruff finished the 1966 edition of 'The Psyschedelic Prayers'. This translation provided the spiritual seeker using psychedelics with an unsurpassed guidebook to the realization of the highest potentials of the human mind and these amazing substances.
After the dramatic jailbreak from a California prison, Timothy and Rosemary found themselves in Switzerland under stressful circumstances. Rosemary, at this time left Timothy after a number of unhappy years and began a life of an underground fugitive. Before leaving, she and Timothy agreed on releasing a new edition of 'The Psychedelic Prayers' to mark the magical times together.
Having found a refuge in Canada for a few months, she, John, Brigette and Sergai Mars, began work on the 'Boxed Edition' of 'The Psychedelic Prayers'. The result was an edition containing 49 of the original 55 prayers, unbound, individual printed pages to be placed within a handmade case. Six boxed editions were distributed among Timothy, Rosemary and a close circle of friends. The rest of the printed sets were stashed in a secuded farm deep in the Ozark mountains.
