Psychedelic Prayers - HISTORY
BEGINNINGS
Timothy Leary, Raplh Metzner and Richard Alpert left Harvard and moved to Mexico. There they created the 1st guide book for taking psychedelics, calling it 'The Psychedelic Experience', based upon "The Tibetian Book of the Dead". (1964)
In 1965, while in India, Timothy began the 2nd guide book for taking psychedelics, based upon the "Tao Te Ching" by Lao Tse, the collection of poems was called the 'Psychedelic Prayers'.
Upon his return to USA he settled in Millbrook, NY, where he and Rosemary finished the original edition of the "Psychedelic Prayers" (1966)

FUGITIVE
After a dramatic jailbreak from a California Federal Prison, Timothy and Rosemary escaped from USA to Canada and onto the Black Panther Embassy in Algeria.
As tensions with the Black Panthers mounted and became unbearable, Tim and Rosemary had to once again escaped their jailers. They fled to Europe.
Shortly after arriving in Switzerland seeking asylum, Rosemary and Timothy seperated. The stress of their relationship and being celebrity fugitives had become too much for Rosemary.
Wishing to leave a commemoration of their magical time together they agreed to create a new edition of the Psychedelic Prayers.

UNDERGROUND
No longer with Timothy, Rosemary and John left Switzerland for France and than onto Canada. Spending the next 3 months hidden away in the snowing mountains of Canada (1972). It was there that 'The Boxed Edition' was created. 49 prayers were selected and edited (by Rosemary and assisted by Brigette) to be printed per set. Each set was to be inclosed in a custom made wooden embossed box.
There were six completed sets with boxes. The remaining printed sets were stashed, as Canada was only a temporary stop.
Upon returning to Europe, a set was given to Timothy. This would be the one of the last times Rosemary would see Timothy, as he later flew to Afganistan, was arrested and returned to a US High-Security Federal Prison.
For the next ten years, Rosemary and John lived 'Underground, On the Run' in four contents.
